Remember that Big & Rich song lyric-turned-tagline slapped on the back of every college girl's Jeep Grand Cherokee, "Save a horse, ride a cowboy"? Well, I've modified it to say, "Save a horse, wear some Hermes."
Sure it infers something a little cleaner and removes that delicious image of you sharing an intimate moment with Brad Pitt's character in Thelma and Louise (cue the photo above), but it works.
Jean Paul Gaultier left no Equine detail unturned by returning the inglorious fashion house to its roots with his spring 2011 RTW collection. Crops and all, he let models--dolled up in orange, brown, navy and black leather ensembles embellished with riding boots, horse bit buckles and flat-top hats--loose for a day of couture horseback riding, sans the stallions.
Here are a few looks from the show accompanied by some of my favorite Equine inspired pieces for fall.
